Are you a teacher who maintains your own classroom library? Or maybe you just want to add a personal touch to your home library? If so, then you should check out my new video on how to create custom bookplates using AI image generation and Google Slides!
I've chosen to use a simple song to narrate the video, rather than a traditional voiceover.
In my video, you'll learn how to use ChatGPT (or another image generator) to create a black and white image in the style of a woodcut. You can refine the image using additional prompts. Then, you can take the image into Google Slides, where you will use it as a simple image editor. You can change the dimensions of your slide, add borders and text, and use the formatting options to make any necessary adjustments. Once you're happy with your design, you can download it as a print and print it out on card stock. After trimming it, use a glue stick to affix it to your book.
I recommend Google Slides to edit the image in the video, but that is only because so many people (including students) already know how to use it. But, of course, you can also use Photoshop or any other image editor if you prefer.
Here are three groups of people who might be interested in this video:
• Teachers who maintain small classroom libraries of books for their students to read.
• Librarians who are interested in using bookplates to designate books as belonging to specific subcollections.
• Anyone who has a bookshelf at home and thinks it would be fun to have a custom bookplate for their personal library.
